GEORGE NEWS - Ground crews of Working on Fire (WoF), Cape Nature and the Garden Route District Municipality (GRDM) Fire and Rescue Services worked through the entire fireline today to ensure there were no hotspots.
The standard monitoring phase will now commence until tomorrow morning and this will be done by GRDM.
No lives lost and no infrastructure damage recorded throughout to date.
GRDM Fire Services would like to commend the WoF ground crews for their role in mopping up the firelines.
We once again thank all role players for their assistance, each person who donated water, energy drinks and bars to firefighters who worked for days to extinguish the wildfire.
Roleplayers that battled the blazes include: GRDM, George Municipality, Cape Nature, WoF and South Cape Fire Protection Association.
