Update
GEORGE NEWS - The installation of new pipes at Ebb and Flow was completed, but water pressure of the new pipes is too high for standard gaskets, which had failed during testing.
High pressure gaskets have been sourced and are currently being installed, a process of two to three hours, after which the lines will be retested.
If all goes according to plan and the pipes and fittings hold, water will start pumping from the waterworks near Ebb and Flow to the high lying reservoirs above Hoekwil and Touwsranten.
Once the required pressure has built up at the reservoirs, a process that takes a few hours, water will start pumping into the supply pipes in Hoekwil and Touwsranten.
Water is expected to reach households by mid to later-evening (about 21:00-22:00), but water pressure may still be weak for a while as residents are likely to use water for several hours into the night.
Full water pressure is expected to return by tomorrow (Wednesday) morning.
Water trucks will remain until water has been sufficiently restored or until 21:00 tonight, depending on circumstances (details of trucks below).
The municipality understands the frustrations of residents and apologises for ongoing delays that are truly out of our control.
Water trucks are roaming or stationed according to requirements in Hoekwil and Touwsranten at Adonis Street, Jasper Street, Thyz Jacobz Retirement Village and Denneboom Street. The fire department water tanker is stationed at Touwsranten Superette.
