GEORGE NEWS - A grieving father may find a measure of closure after the body of a little girl was found in the ocean between Kleinkrantz and Swartvlei on Thursday 4 February.

According to Southern Cape police spokesperson, Capt Malcolm Pojie, it is believed to be the body of the two-year old girl who went down a cliff with her mother at Voëlklip near Herold's Bay when their car left the road on 21 January.

"The clothing correlates to the description we got. An autopsy will be conducted and DNA samples will be collected," he said earlier this week.

Various search parties including police divers and members of the local NSRI have been searching tirelessly for any sign of the little girl for nearly two weeks.

The car crashed down the cliff near Hansie se Bank with a woman (34) and her two children aged 2 and 8 inside while her husband was at work. The boy (8) was thrown from the vehicle and survived.

He was found about 2km from the scene by a motorist, who called the police. The mother's body was found in the water shortly after the incident. A fisherman saw the toddler's body on Thursday and the police and NSRI were called. 

The NSRI removed the body from the water.
