GEORGE NEWS - The Western Tigers Football Club collected maximum points when they knocked the limping Vista FC 2-1 in a tough game on Sunday afternoon, 10 March at the Lawaaikamp Stadium. Anele Mlungelwa and Sakhe Pawuli netted the two goals for the Tigers, while Lutho Jonga scored the solitary goal for Vista FC.
Both teams are fighting for the top eighth position in the Geolfa domestic league table.
The encounter got off to a good start with Vista getting the ball rolling. Western Tigers players launched an offensive move on the right side of the field, but a Vista defender blocked the ball.
The Tigers didn't waste time to launch a counter attack and Anele Mlungelwa scored their first goal after a powerful strike inside the box. Vista attacked on the left side of the field, but failed to score their equalising goal in the first half.
The second half started with both teams playing the ball on the ground looking for more chances. Vista received a penalty after a foul by the Western Tigers goalkeeper and Lutho Jonga scored the equalising goal to make it one all. Vista attacked on the right side of the field, but failed to score their second goal when their strike went wide.
Things became more difficult for the Vista boys when Vuyisani Liwani was sent off with a red card after a dangerous tackle.
Lisakhanya Msitshana of Western Tigers missed the target when his shot went over the bar. Tigers moved forward using skilful touches on the ball leading to their winning goal when Sakhe Pawuli of Western Tigers scored, beating Vista FC goalkeeper Asemahle Viti.
