GEORGE NEWS - Great excitement was in the air this morning when the former Pacaltsdorp Tourism Office reopened its doors, but this time as the Pacaltsdorp Satellite Thusong Service Centre.
This premises located in Mission Street will host, on a scheduled event basis, the South Africa Social Security Agency (SASSA), the Department of Labour, the Department of Home Affairs, the Department of Social Development (on a scheduled event basis) and the Community Development Workers (CDW).
The opening was a jolly affair, attended by Portfolio Councillor for Community Services Melvin Roelfse, members of the Mayco and Mayor Jackie von Brandis.
Thusong facilities are defined as one-stop integrated community facilities where the residents can access the needed government information, services and resources. It is designed to bring government information and services closer to the people, promoting access to opportunities and contributing to improved livelihoods.
This launch coincides with Thusong Service Centre Week which runs from 16 to 20 September nationwide. The week is also part of Integrated Public Service Month, highlighting the essential role of Thusong Service Centres in communities.
