GEORGE NEWS - The new Thembalethu Police station commander is a man with 32 years police experience.
The appointment of Colonel Douw Herbst (50), who has been a station commander for 23 years (since 1994), follows the death of Colonel Ruben France on 22 June 2017 after a short illness.
Herbst previously held the post of station commander in KwaZulu Natal in the Pongola area for 17 years.
He also worked at Ngome and Magudu police stations. He says he is looking forward to leading the Thembalethu station.
"I have a passion to serve people, I like to engage with the community, stakeholders and my management to see how we can improve our strategies of combating crime. I have an open door policy and everyone is welcome to directly address their problems to me. I believe in neatness and discipline," said Herbst.
