WILDERNESS NEWS - A group of locals this morning, Sunday 6 December, protested against multinational oil and gas company, Shell's planned seismic exploration off the Transkei coast in search of oil or gas deposits.
Shell recently announced plans to do a survey within its Transkei exploration area from this month onwards for about four to five months in an area of about 6 011 square kilometres between Port St Johns and Morgan's Bay.
Apparently, the exploration entails air guns firing loud shock-wave emissions that could potentially harm marine life.
Their announcement has elicited outrage from environmental activists.
