GARDEN ROUTE NEWS AND VIDEO - The late rains that have hit the Garden Route over the past few weeks have caused flood pulses.
This resulted in plastic waste and other litter being washed into the ocean.
Jeff Ayliffe of Group Editors paid a visit to Wilderness beach. He says it seems that the pollution comes from municipal infrastructures as well as from some of the river systems that run through the low income areas.
This is adding to the ecological problems that are being caused from other plastics that are dumped at sea by cargo ships.
It is an issue that is threatening our marine ecosystem badly, and it needs to be addressed.
