GEORGE NEWSFLASH - A horse died and his rider, a 13-year-old boy, was injured in an accident in Beach Road, Pacaltsdorp at about 12:20 today.
According to Captain Malcolm Pojie, Southern Cape Police spokesperson, the horse and rider were allegedly galloping at a high speed from Kerk Street and were crossing Beach Road when a car driving from George to Pacaltsdorp hit them.
"The boy was flung from the horse. His back and head apparently hit the ground and he seemed to have been injured seriously.
"An ambulance took him to George Hospital."
Pojie said the driver of the car was not injured. He was alone in the car.

In another accident in the Outeniqua Pass early this morning a man from Oudtshoorn suffered light injuries when he lost control of his car around a bend after skidding on the wet road surface.
He was taken to Oudtshoorn Hospital.
A pedestrian was lightly injured in Hibernia Street this morning when she was hit by a car. She was taken to George Hospital.
