GEORGE NEWS - A teenager (17) was apprehended by Conville police officers shortly after he allegedly raped an 11-year-old girl in Borcherds on Saturday afternoon.
According to Conville police's station commander, Col AB Kriga, the alleged rape happened in an overgrown area in Buitekant Street.
"Officers were patrolling the area when a community member informed them of the incident. They found the girl and took her home. Her grandmother took her to hospital," he said. The suspect, who was known to the victim, was arrested on Sunday.
He briefly appeared in the George Magistrate's Court on Monday where the case was postponed until 25 March. He remains in custody at Huis Outeniekwa.
