GEORGE NEWS - The man (63) from Pacaltsdorp who was arrested on Sunday 1 March after allegedly raping a young girl (8) at her home in Andersonville, briefly appeared in the George Magistrate's Court on Tuesday 10 March.
According to the victim's father, the suspect was a close family friend and regular visitor.
On the day in question the suspect was enjoying lunch with the family. After lunch a visiting family member allegedly caught the suspect with the victim in the bathroom.
The family phoned the police and the suspect was taken into custody. The case was postponed until Monday 16 March for his formal bail application.
