GEORGE NEWS - The non-profit organisation Usapho Indlu is hosting a series of practical food garden workshops to help residents learn how to grow their own food at home.
The workshops focus on small home gardens and cover topics such as compost making, preparing garden beds, pest control, mulching and water harvesting.
Participants will also learn about the nutritional value of fresh produce and environmentally friendly ways to manage gardens.
Sessions run from 09:00-12:00 at the organisation’s sites in Thembalethu and Dellville Park. Small groups of five to 15 people are accommodated.
Upcoming dates are Wednesday 18 March at the Dellville Park gardens, Thursday 26 March in Thembalethu (almost fully booked) and Saturday 11 April at the Dellville Park gardens.
The cost is R100 for representatives of non-government organisations (NGOs) and R200 for the public.
Bookings are first come, first served via WhatsApp on 072 241 5442. Participants should bring drinking water.
