GEORGE NEWS - The Women's Network George proudly announces the successful launch of its inaugural event, 'The Genesis of our Feminine Purpose', held on 19 April at Donegal Wine Estate in Victoria Heights.
Founder Alida Gerber, alongside the network's ambassadors, welcomed guests to an evening of empowerment, connection and celebration. The event was attended by influential women and community leaders, local business owners as well as members and their guests.
"We decided that it's time that we create our own table, our own line, and not be forced to be part of a table or a line that was created by those who are not like us, who do not know us or do not know what it takes to be us," said Gerber in her opening speech.
She shared the vision and mission of the Women's Network George, challenging societal norms and expectations faced by women today. The need for a space where women can be celebrated and supported without judgment or limitations, received a podium place in her address.
Performances by local artists such as Rhythmical Seeds dancers and the Carpe Musicam! Trio, as well as an inspirational talk by Dr Nicholas Neaves, entertained the guests.

Sabrage
The launch was celebrated in grand style, following a tradition unique to Donegal Wine Estate. Dr Ansua Steyn-Ahlstrom, the owner of Donegal Wine Estate, and Bianca van der Merwe, an esteemed ambassador of the network, took part in the age-old practice of Sabrage.
This impressive tradition involves opening a champagne bottle with a sabre, a memorable and exhilarating moment for all attendees.
Attendees were encouraged to bring a childhood photo of themselves as a reminder of their journey and commitment to their personal growth and empowerment.

Monthly events
The launch set the stage for a series of monthly events, ranging from professional and social networking to skills development and family services. For the month of May the network has an empowerment series scheduled in collaboration with Neaves, called 'Rise and Thrive', as well as a social and professional networking event on 21 May. Local women are urged to keep their eye on the network’s social media pages to stay updated on future events.
The Women's Network George thanks all attendees, sponsors, collaborators and supporters who made the launch event a resounding success. "Together, we embark on a journey of empowerment, connection, and transformation, shaping a brighter future for women in our community," said Gerber.
