GEORGE NEWS - A tip-off to the police led to the arrest of a 34-year-old man on Friday 12 August after dagga, tik and Mandrax were found in his possession.
According to Southern Cape police spokesperson Captain Malcolm Pojie, members of the Garden Route District crime combatting team searched the residence of a known drug dealer in Lawaaikamp in the Conville policing precinct in the early hours of Friday morning.
During the search 3,575kg of dagga, 118g of tik and 742 full Mandrax tablets, as well as some halves and some three-quarters, were found. Two scales and more than R32 000 in cash were also confiscated.
The suspect was arrested on suspicion of dealing in drugs.
During the past weekend smaller quantities of drugs and dangerous weapons were also confiscated from various areas of George.
