GEORGE NEWS - A number of people have gathered at the four-way-stop (Fourways) in Thembalethu where they are expected to take part in a march organised by the George Community Forum.

The forum intends to deliver memorandums to various goverment institutions. It is believed that the marchers on foot and in taxis will make their way to the offices of the Department of Transport in Courtenay Street (along Nelson Mandela Boulevard and up Cradock Street), then to the George Police Station, George Municipality, provincial traffic offices in York Street and the municipal traffic offices in Pacaltsdorp.
The march is expected to start at 08:30 and end at about 13:00 this afternoon.
Accompanied by a number of taxis, the marchers have now started making their way to the George CBD, accompanied by a heavy police presence.
The mood among the marchers is peaceful. Earlier this morning a number of commuters were stranded as taxis were not operating due to the march.
