GEORGE NEWS - A devastating fire tore through the Zone 7 informal settlement in Thembalethu known as Dube, last Tuesday, 23 July, leaving eight families homeless and in need of assistance. This tragedy is part of a larger pattern, as 33 homes have been destroyed by fires in George during July alone.
In response to this the local community has rallied to provide aid. The God is Able International Assembly Church, led by Apostle Isaac Koloba, visited the victims, delivering essential supplies and support.
Elliot Feni, a church representative, highlighted the congregation’s commitment to helping those in dire need. "Our church felt it was our duty to assist these families who have lost everything," Feni explained.
"We organised a donation drive and collected clothes, blankets, and other necessities for the victims of the Thembalethu Zone 7 fire."

Feni emphasised the urgency of the situation, noting that the fire struck during the harsh winter months. "These are challenging times for everyone, especially those left homeless. But with community support, we hope to help these families through this period," he said.
