GEORGE NEWS – A case of culpable homicide was opened after a 30-year-old woman died following a serious car accident on Nelson Mandela Boulevard at around 00:10 this morning, Monday, 28 July.
According to reports, the collision occurred when a Volkswagen Polo, driven by the deceased, and a Toyota Fortuner, driven by another woman, collided in the direction of Thembalethu, between the Total garage and Boeta’s Corner.
The driver in the Fortuner is in a serious condition in the hospital.
Southern Cape police spokesperson Sergeant Chris Spies says police and emergency services were called to the scene, where the woman was found with multiple injuries.
"She was transported to the hospital by ambulance and was later declared dead by medical personnel," says Spies.
The exact cause of the accident has not yet been determined, and police investigations are ongoing.
