GEORGE NEWS - Learners at York High School came together in solidarity against gender-based violence last Tuesday.
A school prefect told George Herald that learners decided to do this after the news of the large numbers of women and children being killed and abused in our country.
"Yorkies decided to gather on the postage stamp (the field) and stand in solidarity and honour women."
He said they also had 30 seconds of silence for the victims and survivors. "Every person has the power to create awareness and to stand up against something and Yorkies grasped it and came in numbers to stand in solidarity against gender-based violence and show that the 'blue sea' is against any violence of any nature."
