GEORGE NEWS - In a burst of youthful energy, a group of children aged six to 16 helped clear a heap of litter next to Nompumelelo Crèche in Zone 9, Thembalethu.
The clean-up on Wednesday 12 October was organised by the Garden Route Waste Forum, an offshoot of the Garden Route Dam Action Group (Gardag).
Oom David Tshona and Andile Mobo of Henque Waste dished out plastic bags and taught the children about the value of recycling plastic, paper, cardboard and bottles.
Afterwards, everyone washed their hands thoroughly at the Word of Faith Mission in Qhawa Street where Pastor Nosipho Moyikwa rewarded them with delicious sandwiches and Langkloof apples sponsored by Henque Waste.
Petrus Moller and the Community Works Programme (CWP) team will continue to clean the spot regularly.
