GEORGE NEWS - Less than two weeks after George Herald reported about stray livestock causing havoc in Pacaltsdorp, two horses were killed on the N2. The two occupants of the car escaped with light to moderate injuries.
Garden Route SPCA (GRSPCA) senior inspector, Salomé Bruyns, and inspector Estelanie van Wyk were called out to the horrific scene on Friday 29 April at 22:00.
What they saw, they will never forget.
"It was horrible. It was an absolute nightmare. And it was caused by owners who simply don't take responsibility for their animals," said Bruyns.
The accident apparently happened when the horses were hit by the car travelling in the direction of Herold's Bay.
"One horse was lying in the road, I suspect it was killed on impact. The other one did not die instantly as there was a blood trail to where he eventually collapsed onto his knees at the side of the road," said Bruyns.
