GEORGE NEWS - The Hawks have appealed to the community to assist them to find two suspects for whom warrants of arrest have been issued due to their failure to appear in court for various offences committed in the past.
Sergeant Calvin Leen is urgently looking for Mohamed Mohamud Omer, a 40-year-old Somalian national who was arrested in Thembalethu during July 2006 for dealing in khat after police found him in possession of 40 bundles of the drug. He was charged and brought before court on 19 July 2006 where his case was remanded and he was granted bail, but failed to appear for consecutive court dates. A warrant for his arrest was issued on 6 February 2007.
Sergeant Leen is also looking for Sophie Raesibe Lebese (53) for whom a warrant of arrest was issued by the Thembalethu Magi-strate's Court on 12 March 2013 when she failed to appear in the local court in May 2010. She faces four charges of dealing in mandrax and dagga for which she was arrested between February and April 2008. Her last known address was 3790 Luk-hanyo Street, Zone 8, Thembalethu.
