GEORGE NEWS - As part of the Municipality's Heritage Month Projects, a Sports Day themed, “Starting a new heritage in sport development" will take place on Friday, 14 September 2018 at the Rosemoor Sportsgrounds.
People living with disabilities who are interested in sports or who would want to become more involved are invited to join the activities at the sportsgrounds.
The event will start at 09:00. Oppie Bol Foundation and Eden Lions will work closely with the Sport development section on the day and will assist in the games and facilitate the golf development programme.
The Sport Development Section is mandated to facilitate and enable the participation of sport within the George Municipal boundaries and this mandate includes both able-bodied and persons living with disabilities.
The section embarked on an accessibility to sport project and hosted a successful sporting code exhibition at the Conville Community Hall on 14 July 2018 in collaboration with Stellenbosch University's Parasport team. On 16 August 2018 the Municipality also partnered with Oppie Bol Foundation at their annual Charity Golf Day that took place at George Golf Course.
