GEORGE NEWS - The occurrence of street lights burning in daytime has caused concern with many residents. George Municipality issued a statement to advise residents living in the vicinity of Kraaibosch and Wilderness that there are a number of sections on the N2 where the street lighting falls under the control of Sanral and not the George electrotechnical services department.
Municipal spokesperson Chantel Edwards-Klose said the municipality engages with Sanral when they are informed of street lights on the N2 that remain on during the day.
"But please note, George Electrotechnical Services is not responsible for the maintenance or management of these sections of street lighting," said Edwards-Klose.
Street lights under the control of Sanral:
- Kraaibosch: Lighting starts from the intersection of Knysna road/N2 turnoff (near the Garden Route Mall) and ends 250m east of entrance to Victoria Bay.
- Wilderness Central: Lighting starts from intersection at George road /N2 and ends 150m east of South Road intersection near NSRI.
- Wilderness East: Lighting starts from intersection at Dumbleton/Buxton Road / N2 and ends 1km east of intersection with Second Avenue (Caltex Garage).
Please report any issues on these sections to Sanral on 041 398 3200.
