GEORGE NEWS - The Thembalethu Neighbourhood Watch recovered items that were stolen from the new Tabata Primary School in Thembalethu about three weeks ago and the items were handed back to the school officials.
According to Lindile Snoek, a member of the neighbourhood watch, the items were recovered after they heard about a suspected stolen wheelbarrow that was being sold in Thembalethu.
"We followed up and indeed, the wheelbarrow belonged to the school. This led us to the recovery of other items," he said. Items that were discovered include two gas cylinders, a hosepipe and a bale of toilet paper."
No suspects have been arrested and the matter is being investigated.
Members of the community are warned to refrain from buying stolen goods as this motivates criminals to continue with their illegal activities.
Community members are also reminded that being in possession of stolen goods is a crime that is punishable by law. The community should reject any goods that are suspected to be stolen and report it to the police.
