GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - The woman who sustained severe head injuries and fractures to her face during the recent violent protests in Plettenberg Bay, has been transferred to Netcare Greenacres Hospital in Port Elizabeth and is no longer in ICU.
Haydee de Doncker (56) from Port Elizabeth and her husband, Keith, were on their way home from a family holiday in Gouritsmond, when protesters pelted their vehicle with bricks on Friday 5 July.
De Doncker, who was sitting on the passenger side, sustained serious injuries when one of the bricks hit her on the side of her head.
She was admitted to the Mediclinic George where she spent nearly a week in ICU before being airlifted to Port Elizabeth.
"We are really thankful that she is with us in PE, but she is still very confused. We are waiting to hear from the neurosurgeon," her daughter Erin Burns told the George Herald.
