GEORGE NEWS - Homeless people are persisting in laying claim to the stoep of the main post office in York Street every night.
An irate client sent a photo of people "camping" right where clients have to enter to get to their post boxes. It was forwarded to the post office communi-cations division on 26 October, but no response has been received yet.
At Shamrock Place next door, a water sprinkler system sets off at random times during the night, deterring nightly visitors, a method supported by a frustrated post office client who wants the post office to follow suit.
However, the communications division that responded to a similar complaint a month ago said that, due to budgetary constraints, the George branch has been "encountering delays" in getting a response from the properties section regarding a sprinkler system.
The mess the nocturnal visitors leave behind is what offends the post box renters the most.
