GEORGE NEWS - George Police opened a case of reckless and negligent driving after a police vehicle landed on its side at the corner of Nelson Mandela Boulevard and Mitchell Street yesterday morning, Wednesday 17 June, at approximately 08:00.
According to Southern Cape police spokesperson, Sgt Chris Spies, available information indicates that the vehicle was responding to an emergency near Borcherds when it collided with another vehicle (small sedan).
It could not yet be confirmed whether said emergency could be linked to the taxi unrest in Parkdene yesterday, which eventually led to the rerouting of the Go George Pacaltsdorp to Garden Route Mall route and the suspension of all routes in Parkdene.
“The four occupants, three police officials and the driver of the other vehicle, sustained minor injuries. They were taken to hospital for medical care,” he said.
Circumstances surrounding the accident are under investigation.
