GEORGE NEWS - Priscilla Burgoyne, the new curator of the herbarium, was introduced at the farewell braai held for the Garden Route Botanical Garden's current curator Dayne de Wet.
Friends of the Garden Route Botanical Garden said Dayne would be missed after he made a mark during seven years service.
Priscilla said she was hugely excited at becoming part of the George community and was hoping to make a difference in the preservation of the floral kingdom of the region.
Remember Mother's Day on 10 May. The Garden Route Botanical Garden's nursery in York Street will be open on Saturday 2 May from 09:00 to 13:00 - an ideal time to purchase a gift for mum. Special Mother's Day plants and ceramic gifts by potter Karen Muir will be on sale. The recent plant sale was a huge success, raising R27 500.
"Don't forget the nursery is also open daily from Monday to Thursday from 08:30 to 16:00 and from 08:30 to 14:00 on Fridays as well as the first Saturday morning of the month. Popular Saturday specials will be available on Saturday 2 May for those looking for a bargain," said Kristen Hoek, Garden Route Botanical Garden administrator.
