GEORGE NEWS - George Hospital unveiled a special mural at a dedicated ceremony yesterday, Friday 18 September.
George Hospital is one of only six hospitals in the world selected to participate in the Balcony Bands Mural Project, to paint a mural based on real-life events during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Hospital CEO Michael Vonk said the staff participated by painting six murals that depict the coming together of people during the pandemic.
The project covers six continents, with the design being painted in the countries where the stories took place - Italy, Brazil, South Africa, Iraq, Australia, and the United States.
“The painting is a testimony to the determination and resilience of all the health care workers at George Hospital who joined together to care for patients with Sars-Cov-2 during the 2020 pandemic,” said Vonk.
Entertainment was provided by singer Elvis Blue and other local artists.
