GEORGE NEWS & VIDEO - A senior environmental health practitioner at the Garden Route District Municipality (GRDM) was applauded for his dedicated service to the local authority over a total of 44 years.
David Papier was employed back in 1975 and his career will come to an end on 31 January.
Papier received a certificate at the start of the first general council meeting of the year, in grateful appreciation of dedicated service during an honourable career. "Your loyalty and friendship will be long remembered," reads the certificate.
Three other officials were also honoured for their long service at the GRDM. They are Erina de Villiers, PA of the municipal manager (20 years), and risk management officer Lauren James (10 years of service each) and communications official Marillia Veldkornet (15 years of service).
Municipal manager Monde Stratu congratulated all for their achievements and thanked Papier for his contributions over the many years.
