GEORGE NEWS - A learner of Thembalethu High School, Asenathi Ngodo, was named as Thembalethu Junior Station Commander during a provincial competition held by the police Eden cluster on Friday 3 November.
It was a debating competition and different schools from the region were invited, including Thembalethu, Conville, George, Plettenberg Bay, Knysna, Calitzdorp, Ladismith, Pacaltsdorp, Uniondale, De Rust, Deysselsdorp and Kwanokuthula high schools. The event was held at the Eden Cluster district offices in George.
Three Grade 9 students of Thembalethu High School, Aviwe Ncwele, Asenathi Ngodo, and Simnikiwe Madela, represented Thembalethu in a debate about bulling, gangsterism and drugs. Simnikiwe came second, Asenathi third and Aviwe fourth. All participants were awarded with certificates of achievement.
During this competition, Asenathi was nominated as Thembalethu Junior Station Commander, a role in which she will help to fight crime by involving young people. She also won two tickets to visit the Monkeyland Primate Sanctuary.
