GEORGE NEWS - A jobs fair is being held today and Tuesday, 5 and 6 February, at the Thembalethu sports grounds in Zone 9 to provide a platform where work seekers and potential employers can interact.
The aim is to identify opportunities and solutions for creating employment for unemployed people, especially the youth in the Western Cape Province.
Work seekers, the youth, women and people with disabilities are invited to visit the fair between 08:00 and 16:00 on both days.
The fair also provides space to various organisations to share information about careers and other placement opportunities with work seekers.
It furthermore seeks to provide registration services as well as career information, career counselling, and information on job search tools and assessment to job seekers.
There will also be information on self-employment initiatives and financing.
Work seekers are advised to bring along their CVs.
The fair is presented by the Department of Employment and Labour in collaboration with the Garden Route District Municipality.
Breakfast session with employers
The two-day event will also include an employer breakfast session where Employment Minister Thulas Nxesi will lead discussions on labour market issues and unemployment in the province.
The employer breakfast session will take place on Tuesday 6 February from 09:00 to 12:00 at King George Hotel.
