GEORGE NEWS - Thembalethu Police has released a series of press releases urging community members to assist in solving murder cases that took place between 2018 and 2019. In most cases the deceased were found lying on the street with stab wounds to their bodies. The police has no leads and therefore requests information from the community. The police would also like to remind people that their anonymity will be guaranteed.
Body found with stab wounds
Sonwabiso Ndaphi's body was found in a yard at 29th Street, Zone 7 on 23 December 2018 with stab wounds to his upper body. Nothing is known about the suspects or the reason for the stabbing. Alleged rape suspect murdered
On 5 August 2018, police were called to a complaint of a rape in a squatter camp in Zone 9. On arrival the rape victim identified her alleged attacker, who was lying on the ground after he was assaulted by a group of unknown people. The alleged attacker was severely injured and taken to hospital by ambulance where he later died. Alleged mob justice murder
Lukhanyo Tuis was allegedly assaulted by community members in 13th Street, Zone 8, on 17 June 2018. Police found him lying on the ground with stab wounds. The victim died on the scene just after an ambulance arrived.

Unknown body

Body found under tree behind church
The body of a woman (in her early 20s), believed to be coloured woman, was found under a tree behind a church in Mahe Street, Zone 9, on 17 January 2019. The body was covered with a black plastic bag and cardboard. There were two open wounds to her upper body and she was wearing a camouflage T-shirt and a white top. Her lower body was naked.
