GEORGE NEWS - George Municipality is calling on all beneficiaries who have received an invitation letter from the Directorate of Human Settlements to come and complete a subsidy application, to please make contact urgently.
Only beneficiaries who have been identified for Erf 325, Pacaltsdorp and Metro Grounds, Borcherds Housing projects would have received the letter.
Persons who registered their names on the Housing Demand Database (waiting list) from 1994 to 2003 are requested to contact the New Housing Department if their personal details and addresses have changed.
For beneficiaries to qualify for a housing subsidy, the following criteria is applicable:
- Must be a South African.
- Must be competent to contract.
- Not yet benefited from government assistance.
- Not yet owned a fixed residential property.
- Married or habitually cohabiting with a partner.
- Single with Financial dependents. (Dependents as stipulated in the National Housing Code)
- k) Persons classified as military veterans.
- l) Earn less than R3500 per month
- m) Persons classified as aged without financial dependents
- n) Must be on the demand housing database (waiting list) for three years or longer.
o) Persons classified as disabled with or without financial dependants. The disability categories are as follows:
- Walking – Walking aids
- Walking – Wheelchair, partial and or full-time usage
- Hearing – Profound / Partially deaf
- Vision loss – Partially / Totally blind
- Limited or no use of upper body limps - Partial/ total movements loss / paralysis in the upper body limps.
Persons who have received an invitation letter to complete a subsidy application for either Erf 325 or the Metro Grounds Housing Project should urgently visit either the community hall as indicated in the letter or if the date for the community hall has passed, beneficiaries can also visit the New Housing Department offices at the corner of St Johns and Varing Street to finalise their subsidy application.
The offices are open to the public weekdays 7.45am-4pm. Covid-19 protocols are in place and only two people are allowed into the foyer at any given time.
Please note that both the applicant and the spouse (where applicable) are required to complete the subsidy application, however only the applicant will be allowed access to the reception area. Enquiries: 044 802 2003
