Update
GEORGE NEWSFLASH - The police confiscated a vehicle, allegedly used during the murder of the 25-year-old Hlompho Mohapi, for forensic analysis at a house in Thembalethu yesterday, Monday 16 July.
According to information the vehicle belongs to a local pastor who was arrested on an outstanding warrant for assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH).
Southern Cape police spokesperson, Captain Malcolm Pojie, said the suspect was arrested in connection with the outstanding warrant of arrest and not in connection with Mohapi’s murder.
“The suspect will be transferred to King William’s Town where he will stand trial on the assault charge,” he said.
Hlompho's body was found by a fisherman on the Voëlklip road in Herold’s Bay on 5 July. She had multiple stab wounds to her chest and her throat was partially slit.
More information to follow as it becomes available.
