GEORGE NEWS - The Powervan is currently undertaking daily trips up and down the Outeniqua Mountain and cyclists or hikers cycling or walking near the railway line are warned to please exercise caution.
Charl Marais, manager of the Powervan, says they encounter many people who walk on the railway line and it is not possible to stop over a short distance.
"We would like to inform members of the public to be aware that it is dangerous to be on or near the track, especially when you have children or animals with you.
"Please refrain from walking on the track and have your dog on a leash and your children close by," he says.
Sign boards along the railway have recently been put up to inform anyone in the mountain that the line is in use.
Notice boards warning that the railway line is in use have been put up along the route.
