GEORGE NEWS - A motorbike accident in York Street claimed the life of a young man from George in the early hours of this morning.
Warren van Steenderen (23), a former Outeniqua Primary School and York High School pupil, was fatally injured when he allegedly lost control of his motorbike at the Hope Street circle on his way home at around 02:35. He had earlier finished his shift at the Kingfisher restaurant, where he was a waiter.
Van Steenderen was transported to George Hospital, but died shortly after arrival.
Captain Malcolm Pojie, Southern Cape Police spokesperson, said the police are investigating a case of culpable homicide.
