SEDGEFIELD NEWS - Two suspects were arrested shortly after the murder of an 80-year-old man in Paul Kruger Street, Sedgefield last night.
According to a media release issued by police today, a member of the community found the body of the victim in his home at about 22:00 last night, Monday 16 September.
Investigation by Knysna detectives revealed that the suspects entered the residence of the victim, overpowered him and tied him up. They then fled with a number of personal belongings of the deceased, including a DSTV decoder, a knife and diary.
The stolen items were later recovered at a residence in Smutsville. Police also arrested two men in their late 20s.
The suspects are scheduled to appear in the Knysna Magistrates’ court later this week, on charges of murder and housebreaking.
The identity of the deceased cannot yet be revealed as attempts are being made to inform the next of kin.
An autopsy will be performed to determine the possible cause of death.
