GEORGE NEWS - The man, Rodney Witbooi (33), who stands accused of murdering his wife Soneé (28) with a panga in their Loerie Park home in 2022, will make his next court appearance in the Thembalethu Circuit High Court on 29 August.
The case was postponed on Thursday 2 May for pre-trial procedures.
In October last year, Witbooi was set to make his first appearance in the George Circuit High Court, but the case was not placed on the court roll.
In the meantime, Witbooi has been kept in custody on an attempted rape charge that originates from an incident that happened in January 2020.
The state has requested that the attempted rape case be tried together with the murder case in the George Circuit High Court.
Amongst others, Witbooi faces charges of murder, attempted murder, housebreaking with the intent to commit a crime and assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
