Update
GEORGE NEWS - The murder case wherein Rodney Witbooi (33) is accused of killing his wife Soneé (28) with a panga, finally seems to be moving ahead.
Witbooi appeared in the George Regional Court on Tuesday 2 April where the case was postponed to 25 April for a high court date.
In October last year, Witbooi was set to make his first appearance in the George Circuit High Court, but the case was not placed on the court roll.
In the meantime, Witbooi has been kept in custody on an attempted rape charge that originates from an incident that happened in January 2020.
The state has requested that the attempted rape case be tried together with the murder case in the George Circuit High Court.
Besides the charges of attempted rape and murder, Witbooi faces three charges of attempted murder, one charge of housebreaking with the intent to commit a crime, a charge of assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm and certain charges relating to drugs.
