GEORGE NEWS - Four suspects, believed to be from George, were arrested on Tuesday 1 April, after attempting to add their own version of "festivities" to the KKNK. Police found drugs valued at approximately R97 000 in their possession.

Southern Cape police spokesperson Sergeant Chris Spies reported that the arrests took place in Oudtshoorn after officers patrolling Johan Gelderblom Street around 22:45 noticed a vehicle suddenly speeding away.

"A chase ensued when officers saw the occupants discard a parcel from the moving vehicle. After catching up with the car, they retrieved the package and discovered 1 943 Mandrax tablets and 27 half tablets," said Spies.

Authorities also recovered an undisclosed amount of cash from the suspects.

The individuals were taken into custody on charges of drug dealing.
