BUSINESS NEWS - At Vitalvet, we believe in the power of One Health, in which the well-being of animals, people and our planet are interconnected. From humble beginnings to becoming a trusted pillar in the Garden Route, our journey has been incredible, and we’re bursting with gratitude as we reflect on our growth, our impact and our achievements.
Our flagship Vitalvet Animal Medical Centre on Knysna Road was built with intentionality: two fully equipped theatres, separate dog and cat wards, an isolation ward, the latest technology, plus a full in-house Idexx lab so we can deliver rapid diagnostics around the clock.
But it’s much more than the infrastructure - at the heart of Vitalvet is our people; our veterinary team, our veterinary nurses, our support staff and our receptionists. They deliver care with empathy and expertise, providing comfort and ensuring intensive support is given when needed.

We have shared many success stories throughout the year, but the one that will always stay with the team is the recent story of Toffee and his brave fight against a rinkhals. Rinkhals venom is extremely dangerous as it contains powerful neurotoxins that can paralyse the entire body, including the breathing muscles. Thanks to our 24/7 nursing team, dedicated veterinarians, Toffee is alive and well. Read more about his story on Facebook.
Our York Street branch offers primary animal health services such as vaccinations and microchips while providing excellent retail advice and products - from pet food, wellness products and accessories, curated by a knowledgeable team.
Our Mossel Bay branch is a fully operational animal clinic and can provide services such as consultations, sterilisations, dental work-ups and x-rays. They are also deeply rooted in the community of Albertinia, providing services such as vaccinations and deworming, led by Sr Ilse.

This year, the community of George and the Garden Route showed their love - and we are humbled to have won two Best of George Readers’ Choice Awards.
To every client who trust us with their beloved pets, every patient who fought their way back to health and to every community member who supports us - thank you. We have a lot to look forward to in 2026.
