SOUTHERN CAPE BUSINESS NEWS - QdotPharma is passionate about the environment and is determined to reduce its carbon footprint by making an impact in a few key areas, for example:

• To save as much water as possible in our building by installing water saving devices and educating our staff on using water sparingly.
• To actively monitor our electricity usage and reduce consumption as far as possible.
• To educate our staff regularly by sending out green tips about what they can do to save our environment.
• To promote recycling by providing easy to use in-house facilities.
• To set all printers to automatically print double-sided to help save paper.

CEO Dr Michelle Wessels added "Spekbooms are considered to be one of the world’s best carbon trappers. One hectare of Spekbooms is able to trap around four tons of carbon annually. With our Spekboom Project we have planted over 50 of the shrubs on our premises, not just greening our environment, but also reducing our carbon foot print even further. Each member of the staff has also been given a Spekboom to plant in their own garden, further enhancing the carbon-reducing effect of these amazing plants in our area. Several indigenous trees have also recently been planted on our property as part of this initiative.

"We plan to extend this initiative even further by challenging all businesses in and around George to join the Go Green initiative."

Community projects:
Each year, QdotPharma makes a difference in the George area by supporting the local community in many innovative fundraising projects. Wessels said - "Our commitment is demonstrated through our support of various campaigns, for example - Casual Day, CANSA Relay for Life, Wheelchair Challenge, sponsoring of 90 ribbons for the ARV Clinic in Thembalethu on World Aids Day, financial support of WWF’s rhino conservation work on Rhino Day, Life Community Services and many others.
