The Warrands started the restaurant together with their partner, the late Glen Wright, in 1996. Glen passed away in 2005.
Over the years, the restaurant has established itself as one of the top restaurants in town with its supreme food, service with flair and reasonable prices.
"We have a large loyal following, some of whom have supported us since our opening and are still loyal customers today.
"Together, with a strong management team in the person of Darius Jonck, the general manager, and Travis van der Westhuizen, the front of house manager, a talented kitchen staff, most of whom have been with us from the beginning and our dynamic and friendly team of waiters we are able to maintain the quality of service and food that we have become known for."
Growth
The restaurant expanded gradually over the years, going bigger on the ground floor at first and then adding a second floor in 2002. Six weeks after the second floor was completed, they had a huge setback when a fire destroyed almost the entire building. This did not deter a determined team. A complete refurbishing followed and today they have seating for 210 people - quite an achievement for a place that started out as a little bistro of 56 seats.
Extensive menu
The King Fisher specialises in seafood and sushi, with the widest selection of fresh local linefish. There is something for everyone to indulge in, with steak, ribs, pizza and pasta also on the menu. In 2003 sushi chef Michael Li joined the King Fisher team. His quality and attention to detail has steadily built him a strong following, and he has become an integral part of the family.
Loyal patrons
"We wish to thank our loyal patrons, our management team, our kitchen staff and our waiters, past and present. We look forward to continue building on our reputation for exceptional service, delicious food and friendly atmosphere," says Jill.
