The WTM is a travel and tourism convention, similar to the Tourism Indaba in Durban. About 500 qualified buyers from all over the world attended the event and exhibitors had the opportunity to schedule appointments and meet with these buyers. There were about 350 exhibitors and in total some 4 500 travel and tourism professionals attended the show.
Redberry Farm exhibited at the WTM to promote their strawberry tours and hedge maze to tour agents and others in the travel industry. Their eye-catching booth generated a lot of interest, as well as Scarlett, their strawberry mascot, who roamed the exhibition taking photos with attendees.
An interesting observation from discussions with travel agents is that many of the tours fly in at the George Airport, but then go directly to Oudtshoorn and on to Knysna. Redberry Farm is fortunately positioned on the George Airport/Oudtshoorn road and hopes to become a pit stop on this route.
Mossel Bay Tourism as well as Oudtshoorn Tourism were situated around the corner from Redberry Farm and just down the way Big Tree Marketing had a stand representing various local Garden Route establishments.
