GEORGE -  A new shop in Wilderness has the entire Southern Cape abuzz. Buzzards Gifts and Deli, in the heart of this quaint, artistic village, is absolutely unique in the area and offers a choice of treasures and treats all under one roof.
Owner Wilna Heunis identified the need for retail space for local artists and crafts people and decided to create a stunning platform where they can showcase their talents and products - Buzzards was born.

Home grown gifts
At least 90% of the Buzzards collection are made in South Africa with the vast majority of items from artists in the Sou-thern Cape and Karoo. The remaining 10% are original and beautiful pieces from all over the African continent.
Wilna regularly combs the countryside to find the carefully selected pieces of African art, hand painted pottery, silk scarves and throws, handmade scented candles, soap, bath candles, bags, jewellery, wooden heart art and much, much more. Even the most discerning client is guaranteed to fall in love with a number of items in stock.

Something for everyone
Spoil yourself with a beautiful throw from Africa Silks Weavery in Graskop - a spin project brought to life to empower unemployed women in the area.
Another product line that empowers countless women is a range of bath and body products by RAIN, a rural company specialising in African handmade products. And while enjoying that lovely bath, really do your bit for South Africa and light a handmade drip-free candle from WAXIT on the West Coast for added atmosphere.
The different local ceramics are made with great imagination and care and include rose, heart and Khoisan designs from va-rious artists, reflecting individual styles and personalities. The Buzzards collection also includes hand painted tablecloths, napkins, cushions and cards. It is the only stockist of "Wilderness" t-shirts - great as a souvenir.

Deli
A handmade table cloth calls for an exquisite array of handmade eats and treats. For the perfect summer meal the Buzzards Deli offers Italian style cold meats made in Hoekwil. The salami, pancetta, bresaola and Springbok ham are nitrate and preservative free and perfect bed mates to the range of organic olive oils, olives, whole fig preserves, rice pasta, spices, cheese - the list goes on.

At Buzzards you will not find anything that says "Made in China". As Wilna says: "Nothing in the shop is pretentious. We go for items that are natural, indigenous, organic, healthy and preferably home made in the Southern Cape."
