BUSINESS NEWS - As Van Tonder Inc celebrates its 15th year in business, the George-based conveyancing and property law firm has much to reflect on.
From humble beginnings in a small home office to becoming a respected name in property law across the Garden Route, the firm's success has been built on integrity, hard work, and lasting relationships.
Founded in 2011 by attorney Bernard van Tonder, the firm started with little more than a vision, determination, and a modest office in Denneoord.
A white front door built by friends, second-hand furniture, and strong family support formed the foundation of what would become a thriving practice.
Today, Van Tonder Inc assists clients with the transfer of residential, commercial, and agricultural properties, as well as a range of related property law matters. Despite the firm's growth, its core philosophy has remained unchanged.
Although property transfers are our core business, we have always believed that we are ultimately in the people business. Every transaction represents a family, a dream, an investment, or a new chapter in someone's life.

This people-centred approach is one of the reasons the firm's recent Best of George nomination is especially meaningful. The recognition coincides with its 15th anniversary and provides an opportunity to reflect on a journey marked by dedication and service.
When the firm opened in 2011, there were no guarantees of success. There was simply a desire to build a practice founded on relationships, integrity, hard work, and service.
Over the years, the firm has expanded, welcomed new team members, weathered economic challenges, adapted to the changing property market, and continued to earn the trust of its clients.
A defining feature of the business has always been its relationship-driven approach. Long before virtual meetings became commonplace, Van Tonder travelled to clients' homes and businesses to meet them where they felt most comfortable. That proactive philosophy remains part of the firm's DNA.

We believe legal services should be personal, accessible, and built on trust. We take time to explain processes, answer questions, communicate regularly, and ensure our clients feel supported.
Many clients who purchased their first homes through the firm have since returned to sell properties, buy new homes, or seek assistance for their children entering the property market. That loyalty is one of the profession's greatest rewards. Trust cannot be manufactured. It is earned through consistency, honesty, and service.
In an ever-changing legal environment, the firm places a strong emphasis on continuous learning, adapting to legislative changes, and embracing new technologies. Yet Van Tonder believes the fundamentals of good business remain unchanged.
For 15 years, we have focused on communicating clearly, keeping our commitments, paying attention to detail, and treating people with respect. Reputation cannot be bought. People remember whether you kept your word.
The firm's success is the result of a collective effort. Family members, friends, colleagues, estate agents, bankers, municipal officials, Deeds Office staff, and thousands of clients have all played a role in the firm's growth.

As Van Tonder Inc celebrates this milestone, the firm remains grateful for the support it has received over the years. The offices may have changed, the technology may have changed, and the vehicles may have changed.
Our mission remains the same: to serve people well, build lasting relationships, and contribute positively to the community we are proud to call home. Whether or not the firm wins the Best of George title, its legacy is already firmly established - one built on professionalism, integrity, and a genuine commitment to the people it serves.
