Farmers hope for more rain this week

NATIONAL NEWS - Agri Wes-Cape says it hopes there will be more rain this week.

It's warned many farmers have started planting winter crops, but rains have arrived too late, and this will only aggravate the impact of the drought.

Last week's rain seems to be a taste of things to come, as the South Africa Weather Service has predicted more showers for today and later this week.

Agri Wes-Cape's Carl Opperman says it couldn't have come at a better time.

“The crops that started germinating and the heat was there. There was not enough water and it was dying off."
