Update
GEORGE NEWS - The Garden Route Dam is now 100% full, up from 99.2% last week.
A total of 43.20mm of rain was recorded over the past week in George.
The municipality's latest update records the dam at full capacity, while daily water demand remains above the target at 36.7 million litres compared with the target of 35 million litres per day.
Despite the positive dam level, water demand remains above the municipal target.
Current daily consumption stands at 36.7 million litres (Ml), compared with the target of 35Ml per day.
Haarlem Dam rises above 111%
The Haarlem Dam has also received a significant boost from recent rainfall and is now at 111.35%, up from 100.71% the previous week.
A total of 40mm of rain was recorded in the Haarlem area over the past seven days.
The latest figures reflect the significant improvement in George’s water situation following the severe water shortages earlier this year.
Recent municipal updates have nevertheless stressed that the area remains vulnerable to future drought conditions and that responsible water use remains important.
Restrictions remain in place
Despite both dams being at or above capacity, water restrictions remain in force.

Residents are reminded to continue using water responsibly and to avoid unnecessary wastage, particularly while daily consumption remains above the municipal target.
