GEORGE ENTERTAINMENT NEWS - The George Music Society proudly presents the Songmaker's Trio on Friday 8 November at 19:30 in the Oakhurst Insurance George Arts Theatre.
This highly esteemed trio consists of the award-winning pianist prof Albie van Schalkwyk, soprano Antoinette Huyssen and cellist Hans Huyssen, all based in Cape Town. All three are song makers in their own right.
They share a love for everything cantabile (singable) and join forces to explore this very quality in unusual ways in their programme Gesungen, with music by Robert and Clara Schumann, Brahms and Mendelsohn. The Schumanns were a two-career couple - he a pioneering critic and one of the greatest composers of the Romantic era and she one of the leading concert pianists of Europe.
Hans Huyssen.
The couple also had a close relationship with Johannes Brahms.
Tickets will cost R140 and R30 for learners. Members and over 75s pay only R90.
